The Bits to Energy Lab becomes research partner of BKW FMB Energie AG (BKW) to  support the companies’ smart grid initiative in Ittigen. Topics of the research collaboration include the design and evaluation of motivational cues to enhance feedback and demand response management systems.

Over 5000 households have joined the online energy efficiency campaign aWattgarde within the first two months. The portal  motivates and helps consumers to conserve energy while offering a unique research environment to test and evaluate different forms of feedback and incentive systems. aWattgarde has been developed by the B2E Lab and Illwerke VKW, an Austrian utility company. The Bits to Energy Lab spin-off company Amphiro AG reached place six out of 142 participants in the 2010 Venture business plan competition by McKinsey & Company, ETH, and CTI.
